Setting up your profile

Your profile is how the community knows you: your name, username, and photo appear on every experience, comment, and like you leave. A complete profile makes your experiences more trustworthy.

What you can edit

Open Edit Profile in the app to change:

  • First and last name — letters and spaces only (Arabic or English), up to 100 characters each.
  • Username — see the note below; changing it is restricted.
  • Phone number — optional; pick your country code and enter 7–10 digits.
  • Date of birth — you must be at least 13 years old.
  • Gender and nationality — both optional.
  • Profile photo — see below.

Your email address is shown but can't be changed from the profile screen. A verified badge appears next to it once you've confirmed your email.

Tap Add Profile Photo (or Edit Profile Photo) and choose the camera or your gallery. You can drag to reposition and pinch to zoom before saving, or remove the photo entirely.

  • Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WebP
  • Maximum size: 5 MB

About usernames

  • Accounts created with email and password cannot change their username — it's set permanently at sign-up.
  • Accounts created with Google or Apple get an auto-generated username and can change it once. After that it locks.

Country and languages

In Settings → Country & Language you control three separate things:

  1. Resident country — detected automatically when you sign up; you can change it any time. It helps MyEx show experiences relevant to your market.
  2. Review languages — the languages you want to read and write experiences in. You can select more than one.
  3. App language — the interface language: English or Arabic (with full RTL support).

If you browse as a guest, these choices are saved on your device only — sign in to keep them on your account.

What others see

Your public presence on MyEx includes your name, username, profile photo, and your activity stats (published experiences and their ratings). Keep that in mind when choosing your photo and name. For account-level controls, see Managing your account and privacy.
